Our Commitment

The Town has over 50 years of strong commitment to affordable housing, starting with the development of our first public housing neighborhood in 1967.  Today, the Town owns and manages 336 public housing units for low-income residents, serves as a national leader in inclusionary housing, and is initiating innovative approaches to affordable housing through collaboration and financial investment.

The Chapel Hill 2020 Comprehensive Plan is a reflection of the values, aspirations, and ideas of the community.  Affordable housing was identified as one of the key values of the community.  We are working to implement this strategy to help realize the community’s vision for Chapel Hill.
