Council Approves Moving Forward with $10 Million Affordable Housing Bond

In support of the Chapel Hill 2020’s goal to Create a Place for Everyone, the Town Council has passed a bond order to put an affordable housing bond referendum on the ballot in November. Voter approval of the bond order in the November 6, 2018 referendum would authorize the issuance of up to $10 million of affordable housing general obligation bonds.

If voters pass the affordable housing bond, it would represent the largest amount of money solely dedicated to affordable housing in Chapel Hill’s history.  The bond proceeds would be used towards constructing new affordable housing units, buying property and land for affordable housing, and preservation of existing affordable housing.
